Be part of building Scotland’s future
Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency. We support businesses by helping them to innovate, scale and transform our country’s economy. Everyone here is critical to our mission.
For you as an experienced Pension Manager who’s looking to play a pivotal role with a forward-thinking organisation, this is an opportunity to contribute to real change.
You’ll work closely with the scheme Chair, the trustees, advisers and Scottish Enterprise (SE) to develop and deliver our pension scheme – a valuable part of our benefits package. You’ll help us shape our pension strategy by overseeing and managing our open Defined Benefit scheme, ensuring we operate efficiently, with good governance, and in full compliance with all regulations.
Your expertise will add significant value, as you work with our advisers to keep the scheme delivering our trustees’ and SE’s shared long-term ambition: to have a sustainable, relevant, secure scheme.
Your responsibilities will include:
Scheme strategy and service delivery
Everything from developing proposals to improving the quality and effectiveness of services, as well as taking a lead on delivering change approved initiatives. You’ll also contribute to evolving and implementing strategy and policy with our trustees and advisers, ensure the scheme operates effectively and meets performance and quality standards, and manage stakeholder relationships.
Governance
As well as co-ordinating and managing regulatory and legislative compliance and scheme governance, you’ll oversee advisers’ delivery – making sure it’s completed on time and to the right standard. You’ll also act as the scheme’s secretary.
Communications & Engagement
Developing and supporting our engagement and communication strategy, you’ll promote our pension scheme as a key benefit, so it helps to attract and retain talent. You’ll take account of scheme members’ needs, while also balancing regulatory requirements, budgetary constraints and scheme objectives.
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll need a degree or SCQF equivalent (level 9 or 10), together with proven experience in a related role in pension management, administration, consultancy or in-house. Alternatively, you may join us with experience in other areas: accountancy, finance, investment or actuarial work.
Whatever your background, you’ll be familiar with trustee and corporate pensions meetings with senior colleagues and professional advisers. Also essential are:
Ideally, you’ll also have a professional qualification (or part-qualification) in pensions, for example: Associate of Pensions Management Institute (AMPI), Advanced Financial Planning Certificate (AFPC) or Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
